Kundapur, Aug 4: A student, who was distressed at the fact that his family did not heed to his demand for a cellphone, committed suicide by hanging himself. This incident happened at Kakkunje within the limits of Kota police station on Friday August 3 afternoon.

The student who killed himself in this manner was Pratheeksh (16), a first year commerce department student of the PU College at Bidkalkatte.

Pratheeksh belonged to a poor family. It is said that he desired to have his own cellphone after finding that other students of his college brought their phones with them. He had been forcefully putting forth demand for a mobile phone, but the family, being poor, refused to meet his demand.

Disturbed at this denial, Pratheeksh waited for all the other members of his family to go out and hanged himself at his home when alone.

The teenager has left behind parents and a younger sister.

Irresponsible child. No love in his heart. No gratitude.

I know many teen age boys committed suicide for not giving phone and bike. If bike given to these children they ride harshly and loose their life.

Phone may be useful but it is not the very important product for students.

Such children go on demanding bike, good clothes, money for trips at last fall in the hands of bad character friends and ruin their life.

Let God give strength to bear pain to the parents.

That question you need to ask yourself...
Your UPA government didn't start even single good program... And again they want power in 2019.. You need to write to PMO if loans are denied... Only Vijay, Nirav and Choksi were given loan during UPA...
    Poor students are still helpless

At least this hour refrain from blaming parents. If due to smartphone he had committed a mistake you would have said parents are giving whatever kids want.
We need to pray for these parents to give strength to bear this loss

The parents of other children who give unnecessary things to their children are indirectly responsible.
Ordinary children suffer because of these all giving parents.

It is sad children who are in high school it self carry Mobiles or ride Motor Bike. Parents give in to their demand, even though they are spending their hard earned money. In western countries students work part time to full fill their needs, may be for the gadgetry or for study or for fun. They earn and they spend. After High School they are out of their residence. They build or ruin their career. But in Eastern Countries it is vice a versa. Parents work, earn money and spend for their studies, still it is alright. but children demanding Mobiles, Motor Bikes, God save these children. Whom to blame ??? Many dil daar Parents who spoil their children ?? The spoilt Children who show off their gadgetry to their peers ??? School Authorities who are lenient with the students, allowing them to carry their show off goodies ??? to? or once more the Parents, who pressurise the School authorities to allow their children to lead care free life in side the campus ????

You are partially right but it doesn't mean that you will not upgrade to the latest technology. We need to find a solution for this problem. Colleges should not allow smart phones. Teachers and parents should share with kids facts of life. Parents at least one hour to spend quality time uninterrupted
with growing children may be having tea together.

Mobile phone is becoming a necessity even for school going children, hence these instruments should not be banned. But SMART PHONES should not be given, A BASIC PHONE ONLY WITH CALLING FACILITY IS SUFFICIENT.

    RIP.
Parents: if you cannot afford, do not make so many sacrificies for kids and even for educating where you cannot afford. If you make, it should be within your limitation. while looking the picture he looks like spoiled kid and parents never gave him any reality in life. Parenthood is hard...

No sympathies or RIPs from me. It would be a disgrace to millions of wonderful children who struggle and very young age and bring their family out of punery. At 16 It was high time to learn what is wrong and what is right . If he didn’t means he would have developed a character which would have been difficult to handle . My sympathies with his parents.

Very Sad...I feel for the parents. Negative peer pressure turns growing children hostile and their personal life succumbs to this negativity. Unfortunately, many parents/teachers wants their children to score high marks in academics but basic moral education, education how to deal with peer pressure is not available. Time to time counselling (not scolding) by parents and teachers is very important. Parents and teachers should team up to combat negative peer pressure.
