Panaji, Oct 12: Hitting back at the German researcher, Goa police today said that the lady who has accused minister's son of mentally and sexually abusing her minor daughter is not making herself available to the police.

"My officer was waiting for the lady at police station from 11.30 a.m. till 1.30 noon but she did not turned up. We were expecting her to come and give us details of the case so that the formal complaint can be lodged," Superintendent of Police Bosco George told daijiworld.com

Fadela Fuchs, the German researcher on the long term visa to India, based in Goa, had accused state education minister Atanasio Monserratte's son Rohit of sending lewd SMSes and also sexually and mentally abusing her 14 year old daughter.

The mother had lodged a written complaint with the Calangute police on October 2 and police had acted on Thursday when they instituted an inquiry into the complaint.

George said that deputy superintendent of police Gundu Naik inquiring into the complaint was waiting for the mother today. "Instead of arriving at police station, she went to the media with the story," the SP said.

Police in a letter written to the lady has asked her whether she is really interested in fiiling the complaint or otherwise.

Officials stated that the statement of the mother is required for the investigating officer to proceed with the case.

Earlier in the morning, the German researcher had said that her minor daughter was being mentally and sexually harassed by Rohit Monserratte, who is a major.

"It seems that policemen prefer that I withdraw the case. The police have said that it is up to me to decide whether to go ahead with the case or not," Fuchs said.

Fuchs on October 2 had filed complaint against Rohit Monserratte, son of state's education minister Atanasio Monserratte, for sexually and mentally abusing her daughter. She had also said that 21 year old Rohit was sending lewd SMSes to her daughter.
The mother, briefing presspersons, this afternoon, expressed worry over the way case is being handled. ``They would have booked the accused, if he was ordinary boy," she quipped.

Rohit, a MBA student with a local private college, befriended the 14 year old German national while she was studying at a school in Miramar locality here.

"My child suffered a lot. My child is being victimized. She has been saying that she is not the culprit. In these cases, victim is being treated like culprits. I have seen it in the recent past," the mother, who is a researcher in Indo-Mythology and also a German translator, told media.

"You cannot allow youngsters being used by adult ones whom they trust and love as friends," she said.

The German, who has been residing in Goa for last 13 years, said that minister's wife along with two other ladies had approached her on October 3 asking to withdraw the police complaint.

Goa: Minister's Son Sexually Abused Minor German

Panaji, Oct 12: A German researcher today said that Goa's high profile minister's son has  sexually harassed her 14 year old daughter and police have indiscriminately delayed  booking case against him in the matter.
"My minor daughter is being mentally and sexually harassed by Rohit Monserratte, who is a major. It seems that policemen prefer that I withdraw the case. The police have said that it is up to me to decide whether to go ahead with the case or not," Fadela Fuchs, a German researcher, who is on long term visa in the coastal state, told reporters here.

In what seems to be a delay in police action, the mother contended that she received letter from the police almost ten days after she lodged the complaint. "Deputy superintendent of Police Gundu Naik wrote to me asking for convenient time so that he could discuss the case," Fuchs informed.

The mother, briefing presspersons, this afternoon, expressed worry over the way case is being handled. ``They would have booked the accused, if he was ordinary boy," she quipped.

The German, who has been residing in Goa for last 13 years, said that minister's wife along with two other ladies had approached her on October 3 asking to withdraw the police complaint.

Aires Rodrigues, a lawyer, who accompanied Fuchs during the press briefing, said that the minister should not be allowed to tamper with the evidence in the case.

"The offences are serious. Police should act swift and book the case immediately," Rodrigues said.

Goa police on Thursday evening had contended that they have instituted inquiry under deputy superintendent of police to probe into the entire episode
