Panaji, Oct 15: Apparently bogged with immense psychological pressure, the minor German girl, who is allegedly raped by son of education minister, has refused to cooperate with the investigating authorities, sources confirmed.
"The police approached girl with a woman activist and counselor but she refused to cooperate. She has also refused for medical examination," a senior police official stated.
A 14-year-old German girl has been allegedly raped by 21-year-old Rohit. Police have already booked case against Rohit, who has been missing from his residence since Tuesday October 14.
Police have booked case under Goa Children's Act besides various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Rohit.
Advocate Aires Rodrigues, counsel for Fadela Fuch, who has lodged the complaint, said that girl's refusal for medical examination or deposition before the police does not hamper the case.
"Goa Children's Act is very stringent. The onus lies on Rohit to prove that he is innocent and not on the girl that Rohit is guilty," Rodrigues said. "Rohit has consistently sent SMSes to the girl. It is for him to justify for them," he added.
Rodrigues, who is a legal advisor and a social activist, is recuperating in the hospital after he was attacked by a gang of masked hooligans on Monday night.
The lawyer, however, said that the girl's deposition is important to make the case more strong as every part of evidence is vital.
He said that girl's non-cooperating behaviour will not make the case to fall apart. "The mother is facing trauma as she has been pressurized by some people to withdraw the case. Child is scared. This is a very sensitive issue," Rodrigues said.
The lawyer has demanded that senior lady police officer should be made in-charge of the case.
Rodrigues talking to the media from his hospital bed this afternoon said that police should be allowed to inquire impartially in the entire episode.
"There should be no political interference," he demanded.
The lawyer said that Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat had called him up to inquire about the health. "I have told the chief minister to punish the guilty and he has said that law will take its own course," Rodrigues added.
