Mangaluru Aug 30: “Drug menace is one of the major concerns in coastal districts. Police here have made a priority to contain the same,” said ADGP- Law and Order, Kamal Pant here on Thursday, August 30.

He was speaking to reporters on his visit to city.

"There has been shortage of police personnel in the coastal districts while there is more work pressure. The proposal of staff expansion has been sent to the home minister. The proposal is based on the Bengaluru model as per the recommendation of Dharamveer Commission,” he added.

"There was a meeting with ONGC and MRPL regarding their internal security. We can only provide security for the premises, but not police duties. State government has to provide directives in this regard. Many issues were raised during the meeting. All these matters have been documented and passed on to concerned authorities,” he informed.

When asked about interrogation of naxal sympathisers, Kamal Pant said,” As of now we have not received any complaints on any naxal sympathisers,”

Asked about Shiroor Math case, Kamal Pant said,” FSL report has arrived. Certain queries have to be made with regard to post- mortem report. Investigation will proceed further with the help of the findings,”

Prior to the press meet, ADGP Kamal Pant received guard of honour from the police personnel.

Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP- Crime and Traffic, Uma Prashanth, were present among others.

Any thriving mega-business, like real-estate, sand, iron-ore, liquor, drugs, hawalla, smuggling, gambling..etc is fully-sponsored by the local political clan, under the patronage of ‘your guess’, with benami thick-skinned pseudos running the show.

If Singapore (Kumara Anna's all-time favorite for ‘many’ things) can have zero-tolerance & mandatory lashing BEFORE DEATH PENALTY for even a tiny-amount of Drugs,

Well, considering our strict drug and crime laws that are indeed a lame compared to Indonesia or Singapore, one wonders:

Why-on-earth do our executive or top enforcers, repeatedly 'warn' of strict most-elusive action, whatever that means?

One visit to Surathkal (REC) or noted-star outlets in super cash-rich Manipal or key-joints in Mlr,..etc will tangibly indicate the shocking extent of the seriously, acute problem that is now spreading not just to almost toddlers but sadly: to the poorest sections of our delicate community.

Pray God, with Mr Pant in charge, let us all hope matters will be brighter by the grace-of-God.

    ALL THE VERY BEST!

Mangalore City or for that matter Dakshina Kannada are not new to Mr. Kamal Pant. He has worked in Mangalore before and knows the city very well. Regarding Drug Menace ... I have no hesitation in stating that this an universal problem. The Police Department in Mangalore is overburdened with difficult situations pertaining to Law and Order, crime and traffic and the officers concerned are trying to do their best under the direction of The Commissioner Mr. Suresh.

Citizens of Mangalore are no doubt trying to support with The Department and cooperate with them with regard to Traffic. However Drug Menace is an intriguing situation where only The Police have to deal with it. Hope The Department will find ways and means of controlling this grave problem
