UAE: Daiji Dubai Variety Talent Competition on Jan 30

Dubai, Oct 22: Daiji Dubai, the forum of Konkani writers in the U A E has announced U A E Talents Competition as part of its Decennial Celebrations. The competition will be held on the January 30, 2009 at the Indian Consulate Auditorium, Dubai.
This competition adds value and glitter to nine other programmes announced by Daiji Dubai as part of 10th Daiji Anniversary in next year. They include Konkani short story symposium and Konkani writers' family get-together – both held in Mangalore in July 2008; the Yuva Daiji Puroskar for which nominations have been invited, Konkani short story writing competition and Konkani skit writing competition which are underway besides a Konkani drama competition to be held at Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore, starting January 2009.
Though the competition is open to any person or group of Konkani origin residing within U A E, the group should have a 'Unique Identity or Name' which has to be notified at the time of registration.
Each group should consist of a maximum of 10 and a minimum of 8 members and there should be minimum of 3 male and 3 female members.
As the competition is held within the same day, a maximum of 9 groups, registering their names at the earliest shall be considered.
A person taking part in one group is not eligible to compete in other groups.
Each group is given 20 minutes for stage performance, out of which first 15 minutes are mandatory for performance. Additional 5 minutes (20+5) will be allotted to each group. However, it has to be noted that one mark will be deducted for each additional minute from the total marks. The group falling short of minimum 15 minutes' mandatory time or exceeding maximum 25 minutes mandatory time will be disqualified.
Each group will be given 7 minutes to set the stage and 7 minutes to clear the stage.
Each group, within their 20 minnutes' time should as a minimum, cover either of the 5 entertainment varieties ie. a song, a dance, a short skit, mimicry or a dialogue delivery. While the group offering less than 3 varieties will be disqualified, a group covering all the 5 varieties will qualify for additional marks.
Only Konkani language can be used by the groups during their performance and group should refrain from bringing animals or fire on stage.
Judges will take note of innovation, constructive opinion or ideas, costume, stage setting in each performance.
Three cash prizes of AED 3000, AED 2000 and AED 1000 each in their best-performance-order
shall be given out to the teams along with a permanent shield. In addition, each participating group shall be rewarded with an appreciation gift.
