Riyadh, Oct 27: Karavali Welfare Association-Riyadh (KWAR) has been on the rapid move headed for the fulfillment of one of its prime objectives that is, connecting Mangalore directly with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. After its inception, it has achieved various milestones in this direction such as Signature campaign, briefing of KWAR with the personal meeting of Indian Ambassador, registration formality, meeting of Air India Express chief in Riyadh and so on. Some of the executive members of KWAR have taken its prime objective with them when they happen to be in Mangalore and as a part of it, they met the concerned authorities in Mangalore including district-in charge minister Krishna Palemar.

Sometimes back, Iftikhar Ahmad, one of the coordinators of KWAR met Chellam Prasad, Air India manager in Mangalore and Preetam M N, manager sales, Jet Airways Mangalore and briefed about the KWAR and submitted the feasibility study report prepared by KWAR by urging to kick-off the direct flight from Riyadh and other parts of Saudi Arabia to Mangalore. According the assurance given by Chellam Prasad, the proposal gets on the cards including en-route to Dammam also, expecting the operation of the flight hopefully before the end of this year. Three flights will be operating in a week from Saudi Arabia to Mangalore, she assured.

The campaign is on the full wing to get the dream of direct flight true, when Parvez Ali, joint secretary of KWAR, recently met M R Vasudeva Rao, director of Mangalore Airport at his office in Mangalore. During the meeting, Ali introduced the organization and elucidated its objectives in detail. Vasudeva has given full assurance to extend his full-fledged support for the cause to make it visualized soon. On this occasion, Karavali Welfare Association congratulated him for being promoted as GM of Coimbatore international Airport.

Ali also met J Krishna Palemar, district in-charge minister. A memorandum was also submitted to him urging to pressurize the concerned civil aviation authorities to start direct flight between Riyadh and Mangalore. Palemar promised KWAR to discuss the issue with the concerned authorities.
