Mangaluru Oct 1: Shiradi Ghat road will be opened for buses from October 3, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sasikanth Senthil.

Addressing media here on Monday October 1, Sasikanth Senthil said, “Till now mini vehicles have been allowed to move on Shiradi Ghat road. From October 3, buses will also be allowed,”

“Vehicular movement was restricted because of the construction of concrete roads, side walls and also due to recent heavy rains. There were landslides in 12 places on this road. 8 places are out of danger now and police protection has been given in four dangerous areas of Shiradi Ghat,”

“Regarding the movement of buses in the stretch we have discussed with district police and Hassan district commissioner. After a review within two weeks time, other heavy vehicles will be allowed,” said DC.

Shiradi Ghat road connects Mangaluru with Bengaluru.

It is appreciating that roads are opened at Shirady. What about the Charmady route which is completely damaged due to rain and diverted traffic while Shirady was blocked ??

At Guruvayankere on NH 234, the 8 feet road, that too the whole damar has washed away during rain, and there has been often accidents as there is no place left for the pedestrians by the side of the road. Rain water flows on the roads without drainage, and because MP is fond of BC Road and Mani side, he had given least attention for the Punjalkatte to Ujire road, which is a National Highway too.

Guruvayankere is a hub and junction, and I wonder when the ignore such important stretch in their constituency, what claim of development they speak about?. They embrace one top leader at the centre and seek votes showing their photo, and they have no guts to seek votes on their own merits, contribution and development work.
