Mangaluru: Good showers in coast, hailstone and ash rain also in some parts

Mangaluru, Oct 2: Various parts of coastal Karnataka received good rains on Monday, October 1. Some places received rain with hailstones and certain parts of Udupi received ash rain.

In Ethadka, near Kasargod, an electric wire got cut due to the high-velocity wind and fell on mother and daughter. The daughter died on the spot, while the mother is being admitted to the hospital.

Mangaluru city received moderate rains in the evening accompanied by thunder and lightning. However, the city experienced heat and cloudy weather during most part of the day. Good rains are reported from places including Machina, Madanthyar, Guruvayanakere, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Venur, Punjalkatte, Puttur, Uppinangadi, Vittal, Bantwal and Moodbidri.

Hailstone rain in Kundapur taluk

Various parts of Kundapur taluk received good rain accompanied by thunder on the evening of Monday. Goliyangadi area received rain with hailstones at around 4 pm. Places like Kundapur, Thekkatte, Koteshwar, Bidkalkatte, Siddapur, Shankaranarayana, Hemmady, Byndoor, Kamalashile, Kollur, Vandse, Hosangadi, Halady and Padubidri received rains with thunder and lightning.

Ash rain again in Udupi?

On the evening of Monday places around Udupi received moderate rains. Manipal, Brahmavar and Kota received moderate rains with thunder and lightning. Some other parts of Udupi including Parkala received ash rain. This was being discussed on social sites. When the two-wheeler riders of the locality where the ash rain was reported checked their vehicles, traces of ash was noticed on the mirrors. However, it is not confirmed whether this ash dust was due to rain or some other reason.

Forewarning by meteorological department

According to the meteorological department, good rain is expected in some parts of the districts in the coming two days. Fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea and the sea is expected to be rough between October 4 and 9 on the coasts of Karnataka and Kerala.

    Rain is good but not ashrain,It must have caused due to too much diesel use,co2?less oxygen.?Too many industries around not purified air is not pumped out.Or lately a erdquake in Indonasien ,all ash in air carried through the wind can also be the reason during the rain all ash landed in karnataka area?

    We need the rain but not the hailstone and ash rain. But, cannot help it, as nature has its own way which we cannot go against it.

    Rainy season is from June to October. The in this time is natural. Why so much "Halla Gulla" for this rain . I pray God to give rain till December. So atleast there won't be more problems in summer.
