Bengaluru: 50 NH projects to begin in state at cost of Rs 36,000 crore - CM

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 2: H D Kumaraswamy, chief minister (CM) of Karnataka, said that it is decided to start work on 50 national highway (NH) projects in the state at a cost of Rs 36,000 crore.
The CM was speaking after having a meeting with the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Giving further details, Kumaraswamy said, "It is decided to convert 3,463 kilometres (km) stretch of road from four-lane to six-lane, out of the 7,756 km of national highway in the state. It is directed to get the necessary clearance from forest, revenue and energy departments in order to implement the plan,"

"Due to the Forest Act, the work of the project is getting delayed. The chief secretary is going to hold a meeting with the officials every fortnight and increase the speed of the work. The projects are being taken up in the districts of Bengaluru, Chitradurga, Kalaburagi, Hassan and Ballary. NHAI will give financial assistance to these projects and the state government will acquire the necessary land for the same. Around Rs 8,000 crore will be spent for the land acquisition for the said projects,"

10-lane road between Bengaluru and Mysuru

"It is decided to start the 10-lane project between Bengaluru and Mysuru this month. This project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore. In the first phase, 52.7 km of road will be built at a cost of Rs 3,890 crore and 61.1 km of road will be completed in the second phase at a cost of Rs 3,300 crore," said CM Kumaraswamy.
