Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education celebrates two day cultural competitions

Mangaluru, Oct 13: To produce the inimitable is the maxim of St Ann’s College of Education (autonomous), here and so with prospects of bringing out hidden talents from student teachers, offering a chance for participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills and unfold personal aptitude, the much awaited cultural competitions were celebrated with enthusiasm and a spirit of togetherness.

Two day long cultural competitions on October 11 and 12 were inaugurated by Dr Sr Clare AC, principal of the college. On gracing the occasion she spoke about how competitions provide a great platform to display the knowledge and skills one has amassed over the years. She also added that competitions can prove to be a great source of self evaluation for student teachers and help nurture their experience and skills further.



The following innovative competitions were conducted for the student teachers:

1. Bhavageethe
As expressed ‘Bhavageethe- A perceptive song from a poetic heart’, around fifteen student teachers participated and touched the sensibilities of the audience.

2. Eastern singing
With musical harmony and ecstatic songs, groups of participants enthralled the audience with their melodious voices. There were eight groups for the competition.

3. Poster designing
A poster designing competition on the theme 'Globalisation' was conducted where approximately twenty eighty students participated in the same. The student teachers designed creative posters and increased the awareness on the importance of the topic.

4. Folk dance
To bring out the historical importance and cultural heritage of a country, the folk dance was organised and the synchronisation of the student teachers spontaneously exhibited their latent talents and emotions charmed the audience. Seven groups participated, dancing to the tunes of different cultures.


5. Cooking without fire
Cooking without fire- awareness of the nutrition and dietary benefits of various food items. Twenty eight groups with two members each who displayed incredible mouth watering dishes making beautiful presentations with a mixture of fruits and vegetables.

The competitions thus provided exposure and realistic outlook towards the competitive nature in the life of a student. The student teachers put in immense amount of hardwork with their outstanding skills and the overall programme was a one to cherish.
