Mangalore, Nov 7: The upper caste is victimizing the ‘Shoodras’ through the Sangh Parivar in India. Mahendra Kumar, former convener, state Bajarang Dal, is the recent example of this. He was provoked to fight against the churches in Karnataka and was eventually victimized. Therefore, all the Shoodras should come out from the Sangh Parivar to save themselves, said K L Ashok, general secretary, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike.

Addressing a protest against terrorism and oppression by the state, in front of the deputy commissioner’s office on Friday November 7, he said that one should learn a lesson from the episode of Mahendra Kumar. The protest was organized by the progressive organizations’ forum of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

The BJP has completed just 130 days as the ruling party, but already the state has experienced enough atrocities. The BJP will rule this state for more than four and a half years still, and hence, the people will experience many more atrocities, he opined.

‘Vaidiks’ of the upper caste, destroyed the Buddhist religion in the country long ago. At present, Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swami of Pejavar Math is requesting Dalits to not join the Buddhist religion. There are eight Maths in Udupi. If the Swamijis of the Udupi Maths are concerned about Dalits, let them appoint a Dalit priest for at least one Math, challenged Ashok.

Senior freedom fighter H Ganapatiyappa of Sagar inaugurated the protest and said that all  Shoodras, who make up more than 90 percent of the country’s population, are the slaves of the Hindu religion. They have no right to touch or worship the God. But the ‘owners’ of Hinduism are losing their grip on others as the Shoodras are empowering themselves, he opined.

Gokarna temple belongs to all the sections of the Hindu community. But the state government has handed it over to only Brahmins, he added. Sri Basavaraj Devaru Swami of Sri Revanasiddeshwar Math, Dharwad, presided over the function.

Justice Michael F Saldanha, well-known thinker G Rajashekhar, Dalit leader Jayan Malpe, M Yasin Malpe, M P Noronha, P B D’Sa, Denis D’Silva, Fr John Fernandes, Fr WIlliam Martis, Fr Vincent Monteiro, and Fr Onil D’Souza,  were present on the occasion.

What these fascists thrive on is lies that are fed upon the illiterate and people with big ego so that they are forced to fear people and make mountain of a molehill. If the people were so good at converting how come very few got converted in Goa though this was under portuguese for a long time. GOD is great and can convert all people in a few minutes. People are foolish to think that people can be bought for a price by selling their religion like dowry?.

Let these people -fascists try to clear up their own mess and let the christian fools stop propagating rligion if the law says so. Like the saying Dont give your bread(of life) to the dogs...as per the WORD. So, let us try to make our own community help each other instead of trying to add sick corrupt people (purchased for a price?) and corrupting our own community. Our own people are selfish to work or spare time for church functions.

So, let us pool time and save our community and souls instead of wasting time on sick people, unless they come and request for same

On an average, Shoodras do poorly in life because on an average their intelligence is lower than the Brahmins. The Brahmins are the leaders of the Hindu community, and the Brahmins are the most superior community as per Bhagawat Gita. If a Shoodra wants to be born as a Brahmin in his next life, he should perform his Karma (that is do the work which is sanctioned as per his religion) and do it diligently.

A Shoodra cannot and should never perform Pooja. If he tries to fight against the Brahmins, he will be born into even a lower species like Dog, Pig, etc. This is preached by our great religious texts given by God before any other religion came into existence in the face of the earth.

Fully endorse Mr. Rupert Mangalore Canada comments on Mr.Joseph statments. If Joseph is Shoodra or bramin, can his sister or brother or his own children - will he allow them marry inter caste? Always remember blood is thicker than water. One should not forget the fight by the lower caste and class is for acceptance of the deprived caste by the oppressed caste.

When RSS Sarsanghchalak said that Ambedkar supported RSS ideology (16th Oct. 2005), it was not for the first time that a political movement was trying to fabricate lies to co-opt a major thinker and political leader of totally opposite views, for its’ selfish interests. Mr. Sudarshan was trying to buttress the RSS ideology of opposition to reservations by saying that Ambedkar did not support reservations as they are for political purposes.

One recalls that reservations were part of the protective affirmative clauses for the weaker sections. The only point was that as per his scheme of things reservations will be for ten years by which time the social disabilities would be overcome and reservations will not be needed. Who could have foreseen that the machinery already in place for implementation of the government policies would partly sabotage the implementation of reservation policy in such a way so that the desired goals would not be achieved?

No society can be democratic and strive to go in egalitarian direction unless the victims of centuries old discrimination are given special protection and nobody conceptualized it better than Dr. Ambedkar. Sudarshan’s assertion that Ambedkar drafted a Western constitution under the pressure of Congress, insults Dr. Ambedkar in a deeper way. He was not the one to buckle under pressure. He had the values and ideas of his own, and the example of this was when he resigned from the Cabinet because Hindu Code Bill drafted by him did not pass through and also because he was side tracked in other matters of policy and planning. It’s a comment which is derogatory to the thinker and leader who did all possible to ensure that he stands for his values and ideas rather than compromises for the sake of power and pelf. At the same time Sudarshan seems to be promoting his own postulate that Indian constitution, is based on Western values and should be replaced by the one based on Hindu holy books.

It is in that direction that BJP led NDA coalition appointed the constitution review committee, which of course was a dismal failure, thanks to the opposition of RSS formulation by most of the people of this country. Ambedkar did not buckle under any body’s pressure while drafting the constitution as he was committed to the democratic values of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity (community), the one’s which have been enshrined in this book. Also it was the constituent assembly, a reasonably accurate representative body of Indian people, which guided the constitution and not the Western influence. One can go on to say that the constitution itself was one of the major contributions of Babasaheb. Sudarshan also asserts that Dr. Ambedkar stuck to Hindu culture while embracing Buddhism.

Nothing could be farther from truth. By no stretch of imagination one can call all the tendencies prevailing in India as Hindu. The dominant tradition, which passes off as Hinduism is Brahmanism. Dr. Ambedkar

MR KL Ashok is right. BJP does not represent the interests of shoodras. BJP has convinced Shoodras to vote against their own interests by exploting their religious prejudices and setting Shoodras against Muslims and setting Shoodras against Christians.

I had seen there are many cross breeds.....how you can maintain a upper caste lower caste in this 2008 where nobody bothers about caste instead character and culture

Strange demands...Udupi Maths should have a dalit priest....why? What is wrong with the present system? Can a dalit perform pooja? Since 65 percentage Hindus is of low caste, the demand may increase for their representation as per the percentage. So we will have shudras as priests, and what the priests will do?

What makes you to say that Mahendra Kumanr was used by the RSS? Later on the demands of the dalits will increase and they want to have inter caste marriages.... like Brahman girls marrying shudras...and shudra girls marrying brahmin boys... I don't think that they will stop at that then there will be a demand for dalit chief minister, and a dalit prime minister.

Do not compare Indian cast and racism situations to Europe. People are scared of getting sued for wrong doings and comments. Here it is stinking. Religion and God has taken a centre stage here for political gain. And it is stinking to the core. Politicians and ruling party are only Gods desciples. They do not have any sociolgy idea.

God save our Karnataka from these politicians next to God. Why they do not talk about their portfolilo? They simply do not have knowledge on the suject. God and religion is an easy subject! Chances of more mileage. If you perform, you may go wrong!? Better stick to God, religion and cast. Mate you are safe!

Yes Mr.Joseph from Mangalore, let us not be hypocritcal when we post our comments. First of all, analyze yourself and the immediate people surrounding you. Would you, if you are not a Dalit convert yourself marry a Dalit convert girl or arrange a marriage for your sister/daughter to a Dalit convert boy?

If your answer is yes, then I salute your comments, otherwise, it is better to stay put. This matter is between Hindu shudras with Upper class Hindus, so why a Christian has to poke his nose in their affairs and invite trouble on the christians which they had experienced and still experiencing?

It is very easy to break the bond of unity but difficult to heal the brokenness instigated by the self centered group and people. No group or community should point fingers at each other. After 14th Sept. 2008 issue the Christian community has been hurt in Karnataka due to the desecration of the churches. This is the handiwork of fanatic group who will go to any extent to break and disturb communities with the prior knowing the damage they will instill to the society.

Better not to point finger to all Brahmins as there are also good number of people in Brahmin community who are not with this fanatic group as they themselves express their dissatisfaction of the atrocities committed against the minority. Let us appreciate each other instead of condemning. Do not forget that all belong to one nation Bharat Matha. Before pointing fingers to others let Christians eradicate the caste system existed in their community.

No doubt over the past years it has come down dramatically, still more to be done by associating with each other in more and more way. Let us bury the differences and let the society join together to build better community, better future for our children, better India. Jai Hind.

Caste is a social system very much like the racism in European countries. Just as christianity cannot be blamed for racism, Hinduism cannot be blamed for casteism. There are so many denominations in Islam to the extent that some regard the Ismails as non-muslims and do not think twice to decapitate them. The shia-sunni rivalry is legendary.

Religions as old as hinduism may have created a social system depending on the conditions of society at that time. The system has to change, but do not blame the religion and its great philosophy. This only creates hatred and distrust in Hindus for the minorities.

God has created all of us without discrimination – (with red, blue or yellow blood). He has created everyone with red blood. Why we do not understand that the lone God has created only two religions male and female. Then why do we fight in the name of God, will God ever approve this? Why do we have to read or listen to all those provocative literatures or speech?

We are civilized people and understand the difference between good and bad. Let us forgive each other and start respecting each other. God has given us human life, let us be thankful to him and spend this short span of life for good reason and allow others to live their life. May God bless this country.

We Christians in Mangalore should put our own house in order first before joining such protests. Caste system has existed for centuries in India and unfortunately exists even now among Mangalorean Christians. It has become a fashion among Mangalorean Christians to sport their pre conversion surname just to show that they were Brahmin converts.

I have born & brought up with neighbour hood were Hindus as well muslim too. My childhood days I have seen upper caste people how they are treating the shudras like animals. These shudras drink water in the coconut shell and food is served outer yard, after the food that area was cleaned with cowdung.

This kind of difference we cannot change because this instinct already in the blood. when I was in elementary school Ii was taught by basavannas words now I am remebering Basavannas preaching "KALA BEDA,KOLA BEDA, HUSIYA NUDIYA BEDA, ANYARIGE ASSAYAH PADA BEDA, IDE ANTARANGA SHUDDI, IDE BAHIRANGA SHUDDI" .

If we follow Basavannas preaching and adopt with our day to life irrespective of religion, caste and creed . There wont be any kind of upper/lower caste differece, religious harmony everybody can lead peace ful life.

India does not belong to BJP parivar nor Pejavar thirtha swamiji who is more interested in politics than preaching Hindu religion. BJP parivar comprises fundamentalist elements who cannot represent the Hindu community because majority of Hindus are good Hindus who represents true Hindu traditions. If India should shape as super power, it should be united not under any religion, caste or creed but as one nation and one people.

Daliths are branded as shoodras by upper class Hindu community. But in reality, who ever practice and promote violence, hate, lie, make false promises, rape woman and murder in gods name are real shoodras. They brand them self as shoodras by their own ugly deeds not by someone else. We Christians stood for dalith’s human rights by putting our life in risk. But now the time has come for daliths who are still in the bondage of upper class Hindu domination must step out and stand for Christians, ensuring protection and safety of Christian men and woman if they truly understood the sacrifice what Christians made for them! In unity we can make the “Mission Possible”

I strongly support Mr K.L. Ashok for his statement. Udupi temple has eight maths. If the swamijis of the udupi maths are promises equality for daliths, they must appoint at least one dalith priest in one of the eight maths. Now this is the challenge for swamijis to fulfill what they had promised to the daliths. Now the testing time begins to them to show how repayable their promises.

"Caste and creed, getting rid of is hours need". Yes, its all over us. Lower caste and upper caste, House of Lords(Rajya Sabha) and house of commons(Lok Sabha), upper class and lower class, Haves and have nots. Whatever it is, humanity is the best creator of such divisions perhaps for their own convinience. Devide and rule or devide and live. So is our humanity.

I do not know whether it is right time to criticize other religions taking into account the situation in which we live today. But let us not forget that in Christianity too the situation of the Dalits is not positive. In some states the Dalits have a separate cemetery and have a separate path to go to the Church and many more things....

Even though the whole village is catholic, caste discrimination still goes on. Hence as we point a finger towards others, let us not forget that traces of caste discrimination are present in our religion too. Therefore we need to fight against this evil so that it will not tarnish the image of Christianity.

Shoodras Should Free Themselves of Upper Caste Conspiracy. We do not have any shoodras in Christianity. Why are we discussing other religion and the problems which do not pertaining to us. This is not any kind of apostalic work. We do have enough leaders and saints who can inspire us. There is no need to go in for these complications.
