Dubai: Karnataka Sangha Celebrates Rajyotsava

Dubai, Nov 7: Karnataka Sangha Dubai presented a colorful ad vibrant culture programme spiced with rib spitting humour in chaste Kannada befitting to its Silver Jubilee Year’s agenda of showcasing Karnataka’s rich heritage, culture, history and tradition.
The programme held at Indian Consulate Dubai on Firday 7th Nov 2008 to celebrate 52nd Karnataka Rajyotsava which was witnessed by large number Kannada loving audience was a treat to watch and satisfied the senses of lovers of Karnataka & Kannada of Dubai.
The programme started with a warm welcome by the Gen Secretary Krishnaraj Tantri and a powerful invocation bharatanatyam by Saritha Kirodian
A sober audience were suddenly jolted to life by a powerful presentation of ‘theme rajyotsava ‘ where in a patriotic Kannadiga mistaken as thief was chased by fury mob all over the auditorium and then to stage; but to find that all he was hiding was a banner of Rajyotsava message. Manohar Hegde and team should be complimented for presenting this petite episode which was necessary at that particular juncture of time.
What followed next was a perfect staging of events showcasing the glory of Karnataka and it rich heritage, literature & culture presented immaculately in a mellowing and soothing voice of a narrator Swetha Bhat.
A group dance ‘ harisi beLesi kannadava…haarisi kannada baavuta’ visualized and choreographed by Lakshmi Soorya and performed by energetic children & elders illustrated the hidden talents of members and their love towards Kannada Naadu which mesmerized the supportive audience.
This was followed by eagerly awaited special event of the function presented by the invited Guest of honour Prof.Dr.K.P.Putturaya who delighted the audience with a rib-ticking sensational pure humour of class spiced with wit, sarcasm and thought provoking anecdotes. The mastery over the language of this highly placed professional & academician is really amazing and admirable.
The well known singer Raviraj Tantry and his team’s rendering of a group number, Sonakshi Suresh’s ‘Koravanji dance’, Nalini Somayaji’s allegory ‘kannadambe madilalli’ narated by Raviraj Tantri, Pratima Shetty and Anupama Bhaskar captivated the imagination of audience by presenting the glory of Karnataka and its historic luminaries.
In the midst of the celebration the President C.R.Shetty, Vice President Girish Shetty & Gen.Secretary KR.Tantry felicitated the Guest of Honour Prof.Dr.Putthuraya in a traditional way.
