Mangalore, Nov 9: The departure time of the daily Air India Express flight to Dubai from Bajpe Airport has been temporarily revised, Chellam Prasad, Air India Manager, Mangalore, informed Daijiworld.
"Due to the Haj season, many Air India Express aircrafts have been used to cater to the Haj pilgrims. Hence the departure of Air India Express from Mangalore has been rescheduled to 10.00am, instead of 12.00 noon. This arrangement will continue until the first week of January once Haj season is over." informed Chellam Prasad.
However, there is no change in the depurture time from Dubai to Mangalore.
When asked about the latest reports about Mangalore's direct connection to Saudi Arabian airports, she said that a clear picture would emerge only after the Haj season is over. At the moment there are no confirmed plans. she said.
Speaking about the ongoing economic melt down, she said that it had very little impact on Air India Express passenger flow from Gulf. "There is the usual demand for seats, and all flights are reasonably booked on Air India Express to Mangalore airport"
Although she could not confirm if the Dubai - Mangalore timing would remain the same even after the Haj rush, reliable sources from Air India Express told daijiworld, that there will be a major re-shuffle in the departure timings from Dubai and Mangalore. It is believed that the Mangalore - Dubai flight is expected to take off during the evening hours, and Dubai - Mangalore flight is expected to depart at midnight reaching Mangalore early morning.
The formal announcement may be made around first week of January 09, if approved by the Airport authority.
