Karkala, Oct 25: Indian Resuscitation Council, an initiative of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists formed in 2017 in partnership with another twenty societies is involved in resuscitation all over India. They formed guidelines to suit the Indian scenario.
Sudden cardiac arrest is a common occurrence wherein nearly 4280 persons per one lakh per year succumb. 70% of these occur outside hospital. Since there are no trained resuscitators, good transportation ambulance service equipped with Ambu bags, AEDs, 90% of them do not reach hospitals for survival. International Liaison Committee for Resuscitation, Chicago has declared World Restart a Heart Day and planned to train 1.5 lac school children and laymen on a single day throughout India.
With this they started their training session at Parijnan PU College on October 23. This training session was officially inaugurated by Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary B, vice chancellor, NITTE (deemed to be university) in presence of Vikram, principal, Parijnan PU College, Shri Mahesh Bondol, secretary, Saraswat Education Society, Dr Sripad G Mehandale, professor and head, department of Anaesthesiology, Critical care and Pain, Dr Gayathri Bhat, professor of Anaesthesiology and in charge of NU-MEDISIM, trained about 300 students of Parijnan PU College in one day with a simple training method in regional language. This will save lives till help arrives.
Their slogan is 'Every citizen can be a life saver'. Their motto is to provide training to at least one in the family.
