Mangaluru, Nov 23:  Many parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts including Mangaluru city experienced heavy rains coupled with lightning and thunder on Friday, November 23. Some places received moderate to light rains.

Parts of Malnad and interior Karnataka also received rains.

A low atmospheric pressure area has been created over the Bay of Bengal and coastal Tamil Nadu. As a result, cloudy weather and chilly climate were seen in south interior areas and coastal belt of the state since yesterday.

The weather was cloudy almost throughout the day in coast.

The influence of the drop in atmospheric pressure would impact the state for two to three more days with rainfall, the meteorological department had predicted on Thursday.

The city experienced rain since 8.30 pm. In many places, rainwater directly poured onto the roads, resulting in traffic bottlenecks.

Udupi district reported rain with lightning and high velocity wind on Friday evening and night. Areas in Kundapur taluk and Brahmavar got heavy rain while Udupi, Manipal and Karkala taluk got light rain.

As it was night by then, there were not too many vehicles on the road. The rain was welcome by the people, who were reeling under hot and humid climate.

Places like Sullia, Puttur, Uppinangady, Subrahmanya, Bantwal, Beltangady and Dharmasthala too got good rainfall. Many areas within Kasargod district received good rains.

Minimum temperature of 13.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Agumbe while Mysuru recorded minimum temperature of 14.1 degrees and Bidar, 14.2 on Thursday.
