Udupi: One Killed, Three Injured in Ghastly Accident on K G Road Bridge

Udupi, Nov 26: One person was killed and three others were critically injured in a ghastly accident on National Highway 17 at Santhekatte, near Kallianpur, here on Wednesday November 26 evening.

In a head-on collision between a Maruti WagonR car and cargo truck, the car driver Koushik (25) died on the spot while passengers Anantakrishna (55), Pushpa and Kavya (23) were critically injured.  The injured are admitted to Hi-Tech Hospital, here. 

Sources informed that Kaushik's family was traveling from Mumbai to Mangalore when the tragedy struck on the bridge located on NH 17 at Santhekatte, as it collided with the oncoming truck at 5.15 p m on Wednesday.  As a result car was totally damaged while the truck driver managed to flee from the spot.

The traffic was disrupted for almost an hour till the Brahmavar police arrived and cleared the road.

The truck was found abandoned almost 2 kilometers from the spot.  Police have intensified the search for the truck driver.  

Brahmavar police have registered a case in this regard.
