Kuwait, Dec 11: Noted Konkani short story writer Stan Ageira - Mulki, has been selected as the 'Short Story Writer of the year 2008' by www.daaiz.com, a portal promoting and nurturing Konkani literature and language.
Stan Ageira (48), hailing from Mulki, a beautiful town in the coastal Karnataka region, has been recipient of several awards and prizes, which include Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award. A master graduate in Business Management, he is currently working in Dubai, UAE holding a senior position in a reputed organization. He is actively involved in various literary activities of Konkani for the last several years thus instrumental for the upgrading of the Konkan culture and heritage. He has written over 250 short stories in Konkani, English and Kannada. Many of his short stories have been translated into other languages as well. His English stories have been published in Women's Era, Readers Digest and Alive magazines.
In the Konkani world, Stan Ageira is known as a soft spoken jovial person, a good speaker, an ebullient actor, an inspiring novelist as well as a leading poet. His popular column 'Bindaas' is getting published on www.daijiworld.com a popular media website.
Daaiz.com has been conducting literary competitions since last 5 years. Clarence Kaikamba of Muscat was the recipient of 'Short Story Writer of the year 2007' award.
