Bahrain: Billawa Community Gears up for First Gulf Billawa Convention

Bahrain, Dec 14: The Billawa community of the gulf is geared up for the first ever gulf Billawa sammelana scheduled to be held in Al Raja School, auditorium Bahrain on 19th December 2008. The convention will start at 2:30 PM and cultural program will be from 5:30 PM onwards. 

The sammelana is organised by Guru Seva Samithi (Bahrain Billawas), a socio cultural Billawa community organisation as part of their 5th anniversary.


Balakrishna Shetty, Suresh Poojary, N Suvarna and Halappa

Balakrishna Shetty, Indian Ambassador - Kingdom of Bahrain will be the Chief Guest for the occasion. In this occassion the billawa community will also be giving a farewell to the Indian Ambassador who is scheduled to take new assignment in Sweden.

Leading Billawa personalities from India and all over gulf are scheduled to visit Bahrain to participate in the event.

H. Halappa - Minister of Food & Civil Supply govt of Karnataka along with Navinchandra D.Suvarna - President of Akhila Bharath Billawara Union, Mangalore and Suresh S Poojary - President of Billawa Jagriti Balaga and Chairman of Sukh Sagar group of hotels, Mumbai will be the guest of honour.

Jaya Suvarna – President of Billawara Association Mumbai and Maha Mandal Mangalore is unable to attend due to personal commitment back home has also sent his greetings and best wishes for the Samellana. N T Poojary – President of Kundapura Billawa Sangha has also sent his greetings and wishes.

Other prominent guests attending the function from India are Mukya Manthri Chandru -  President Kannada Abivrudhi Pradikara, B. K. Shivaram - Rtd. Police Commissioner Central Crime Branch Bengalure City, Vijaya Raghavendra and Murali - Kannada Film Star, Reena Krishnappa -  Actress, Prof. Tukaram Poojary, Bantwal, Dr. Ganesh Amin Sankamar, Haleangadi, Mangalore, Prof. Mohan Kotian, Manipal, Sumalatha N Suvarna – President of Billawa Mahila Sangha Mangalore, Chandrashekar Suvarna – President Yuvavahini Kendra Samithi and Ashok Suvarna Katapady - Film Producer.

A host of dignitaires from gulf region will also be participating in the gulf sammelana. These include Ashok Anchan - President of Billawa Balaga Dubai, Daya Kirodian - Co Founder Billawa Balaga Dubai, Geeta R Suvarna - President of Billawa Mahila Vibhaga Dubai, Suchit Kumar -  Organising Secretary for gulf of Akhila Bharatha Billawa union, Raghuram Suvarna – Ex Convenor Billawa Balaga Dubai, Sarita Kirodian – Member Billawa Mahila Vibhaga Dubai, Ashok Suvarna and S. P. Poojary from Muscat, Madhav Amin - Businessman & social worker and Vice President of MASA from Saudi Arabia and Diwakar Poojary Ex President Yulu Koota Qatar from Qatar. There are also a host of other guest coming from all over gulf giving a complete representation from all over GCC. 

Speaking to the Media Rajkumar – President of Guru Seva Samithi said that this sammelana shall mark a new begining for the entire Billawa community of gulf and Guru Seva Samithi will be releasing a colorful souvenir Thudar to mark the occassion.

He further said that to grace this event, we have specially invited respected Billawa community leaders and other eminent personalities in the field of art and literature from India. The event will also witness wide range of cultural shows depicting the rich traditions of costal Karnataka. Also there will be a series of entertainment programmes showcasing various aspects of coastal Karnataka life; folk dances, ballets, bharatnatyam and dramas.  Leading film star from karnataka shall also showcase some entertainment.
