Udupi, Dec 17: Despite holding a reputed post in the state government, Eshwarappa, minister for energy, visited a controversial place like Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) without informing the public, criticized Deviprasad Hegde, president, JD (S).

The people who were against the project from the beginning, however, did not oppose his arrival, regretted Hegde. He also said that Eshwarappa did not meet any of the local leaders after visiting UPCL.

His secret visit has aroused doubt in the minds of the people and the concerned authorities must clarify the matter, he stated.

A state government representative should not have visited the construction site which was taking place unauthorized. The minister also did not meet members of zilla panchayat and the residential management, said Hegde.

The company spokesperson arranged a programme two days in advance but even a minimum number of workers were not informed. The Padubidri police were aware of his arrival, he said.
