Kundapur, Dec 29: Madhukar Shetty, IPS officer, who died of H1N1 in Hyderabad on Friday, December 28, was an upright officer kept very close contacts with his native place all the time.
Madhukar Shetty's mother's house is at Yadadi Mathyadi near Guddettu of Kota in the taluk and he used to visit the home whenever he came down to his native. In the same place the tomb of his father and mother are there. In addition, there is Prafulla Farm, which is named after his mother. Right now this house is looked after by workers.

Madhukar also used to visit Vaddarse, his father's house, during religious festivals and special occasions. He had an emotional bonding with the people of this place. On the morning of Friday, December 28, his well wishers and people from the native place had offered a special pooja to Lord Mahalingeshwara of Vaddarse praying for Madhukar's speedy recovery. However, his death in the evening of Friday has brought shock and pain to his people.
Madhukar had taken the manuscript and valuable items of his father Vaddarse Raghurama Shetty two years ago. He had made a plan to collect the writings of his late father.
Known for daring and strictness
Madhukar Shetty, who was known for his efficiency and honesty, had served as SP in Chikkamagaluru and Chamarajanagara and as DCP traffic in Bengaluru. He was famous as a strict and disciplined officer during his time as a SP in Lokayukta, where he conducted investigation on illegal mining and denotification cases.
Shetty was born on December 17, 1971. He completed M A in Sociology from JNU Delhi. He was an IPS officer of the 1999 batch. He had secured PhD from USA in 2011, where he had gone on leave for higher education. After he completed his PhD and arrived back to the country, he was promoted as DIG and served in the recruitment for police for some time.
The mortal remains of Madhukar Shetty are expected to reach Mangaluru by air on Saturday night. Police personnel from the commissionerate and others including people from the region will pay their last respects to the departed soul from 9 pm to 10 am at Mangaluru International Airport.
