Udupi: Weightlifting, Bodybuilding Competitions Conclude at St Mary's Shirva

Udupi, Dec 21: Alva’s College, Moodbidri, bagged three trophies at the Mangalore University-level weightlifting and bodybuilding competitions held recently at St Mary's College, Shirva, near here.
Alva’s College bagged the ‘Prof Anagalli Richard Rebello trophy’ in men’s weightlifting competitions, ‘Shirva Blossom Monsoon Celestine D’Souza trophy’ in women’s weightlifting competitions, and also the best team award.
Kallianpur Milagres College were the runners-up in bodybuilding.
Canara Bank city zonal office deputy general manager Mohandas Kudwa and old student Oswald D’Souza presented the trophies to the winners.
Shirva St Mary’s College correspondent Fr Richard Coelho presided over the concluding ceremony.
Mangalore University physical education department chief Nagalingappa, and Shirva St Mary’s College principal Dr Clarence Miranda, were the chief guests of the occasion.
Prof Ronald Moras welcomed the gathering while physical education director Venugopal proposed the vote of thanks. Sridar Hegde compered the programme.
Sonal Padmanabhan of Alva’s College bagged the Mangalore University trophy. Lokesh of Alva’s bagged the trophy in men’s weightlifting while Premasiddi of Alva’s bagged the best lifter award in women’s weight lifting competitions.
