Udupi, Dec 25:  Brahmavar-Barkur Nagarika Samiti organized a felicitation programme for the achievers at the Dharmavara Auditorium near Brahmavar at 5.30 pm on Wednesday, December 24.

Presiding over the function, Dr B M Hegde, retired vice-chancellor of Manipal University, inaugurated the programme while Dr G P Shetty, agricultural scientist, inaugurated the air conditioned hall.


Dr B M Hegde felicitated Dr Kadangudu Jayaram Shetty, internationally renowned scientist and Kishore Gonsalves, UAE of barkuronline.com, on the occasion.

Sitaram Shetty, vice-president of the Samiti and Eric Soans read out the citations. Dr B M Hegde and Dr G P Shetty too were honoured on the occasion.

Delivering the key note address on the occasion, Dharmaraj Shetty,  Bramavar-Barkuar Nagarika Samiti founder president, spelt out his dreams about transforming Bramavar-Barkur  into a  model town in the next ten years and  explained about the projects and programmes that need to be taken up to realize this dream. He expressed the opinion, that the main focus of the people should be on agriculture for future development.

Dr G P Shetty, Barkur Dharmaraj Shetty,  Padmanabha Kanchan,  Samiti secretary and K K Nair were present.

K K Nair welcomed the gathering. Sudhakar Rao compered the programme. Padmanabha Kanchan proposed vote of thanks.

Later 'Janapada Sanje', a programme by Kala Jagattu, Mangalore was presented.
