Udupi: Tulu Koota Inaugurated, B R Shetty Couple Honoured at Home Town Kaup

Udupi, Dec 26: A unit of 'Tulu Koota' which has brought Tuluvas from all over the world together by spreading its wings around the world, specially in the gulf region, has now been inaugurated at Kaup in Udupi district.
The inauguration ceremony was organized at the Bangle Maidan Kaup on Christmas day evening.
The programme was also marked for the honour of NRI entrepenuer, philathropist, Chairman of NMC Abu Dhabi, various national and international award winner Dr B R Shetty and his wife Dr Chandra R Shetty.
The couple has been honoured for thier meritorious services to the Tulu community in particular and the entire society in general.
Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji, while delivering the benedictory speech at the inaugural ceremony called upon the Tuluvas to sink their caste and religious differences and come together for protecting the culture, language and heritage of Tulunadu.
"Of late, a tendency to lean towards globalization is witnessed all over. As a result, we have been neglecting and belittling our own rich culture. There is a need to inculcate refinement among the younger generation to ensure that they uphold our sublime heritage and conserve our culture," he advised.
The function was presided by renowned surgeon Dr Sadanand V Shetty. Kaup Buntara Sangh president B Sachidanand Shetty inaugurated Tulu Koota. On this occasion, non-resident Indian entrepreneur couple Dr B R Shetty and Dr Chandra R Shetty were accorded a grand felicitation on behalf of the people of their native place.
Reacting to the honour conferred on him, B R Shetty said, that he has so far been felicitated a number of times at various forums. However, the respect and recognition showered on him by the people of his own native place remains unique, feels special and is most enjoyable, he said. He requested the local organizations and associations to recognize and honour outstanding non-resident Indian Tuluvas, duly drawing the support of the people of region. Shetty also expressed his happiness at the way the function was organized and termed it as a model programme, fit to be emulated by other organizers.
On the occasion, Rajyotsava awardee, Abu Dhabi Kannada Sangha founder and president and community leader Sarvotham Shetty, Rajyotsava awardee, NRI entrepenuer Shekhar B Shetty Kalatoor, freedom fighter Babu Master Mallar, sculptor of Kaup progress Vasudev Shetty, enterpreneur Pramod Madhwaraj, educationist Alban Rodrigues, banker, Billawa community leader Jaya C Suvarna, Vasanthi G Shetty, Janab Mohd Aslam Kazi and several others were also honoured.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Mumbai hotellier B Raghuram Shetty, businessman Ravi Aithappa Shetty Wadala, Udupi Tulu Koota president Dr Bhaskaranand Kumar, ex-minister Vasant V Salian, JD(S) district president Deviprasad Shetty, Milk Federation district president Kaup Diwakar Shetty, Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti president Jayakrishna Shetty, Tulu dictionary editor Dr U P Upadhyaya and several other dignitaries participated as chief guests.
On behalf of Tulu Koota, talented students and achievers were honoured. Kaup Tulu Koota president Balakrishna S Shetty Doregalaguthu and Tulu Koota office bearers were at the dais.
Tulu Koota vice president Gangadhar Suvarna welcomed, while secretary Nirmal Kumar Hegde delivered introductory address. M Neelanand Naik presented the programme.
