Speaker rebukes Congress for disrupting LS

New Delhi, Feb 12 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes on Tuesday, after the Congress disrupted the session over its demands for a JPC on the Rafale jet deal, prompting Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to slam them for "dropping their levels to a new low".

Within half an hour after the House met on the day, the Congress members trooped to the Speaker's podium demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the defence deal.

Mahajan requested them to maintain decorum as she wanted to get on with the Question Hour.

When they did not relent, Mahajan made a clean brest with: "You are not being a responsible Opposition. Have you forgotten your own days in power?"

"This House is for debate and discussion and what you are doing is actually misusing the opportunity given to the members... This is a new low even for you," Mahajan said adjourning the House till 11.45 a.m.

Mahajan : "You are not being a responsible Opposition. Have you forgotten your own days in power?"

So, Speaker confirms that BJP intentionally disturbed house proceedings during UPA tenure. Shame.
