New Delhi, Mar 6: The families of two soldiers who died in the Pulwama attack have asked government to release proof on the deaths and impact after Indian Air Force's strike in Balakot.
"Show us, only then we will get peace and know that my brother's killing has been avenged," says Ram Raksha, the sister of Ram Vakeel a soldier from Mainpuri who was among the 40 soldiers who died in the Pulwama suicide attack on February 14.
When Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack, as retaliation, Indian fighter planes bombed the terror training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed on February 26 in Balakot. While the government claimed to have killed over 300 terrorists, international media and opposition were skeptical of the death count.
The soldier’s sister says that destruction and death was evident in Pulwama attack. “I am sure the strikes have happened but where have they done it? There should be clear proof. Until there is proof, how can we accept it? Pakistan says there is no damage to them so how can we accept it unless there is proof,” Raksha questioned.
The same sentiment was shared by Sulelata from Shamli, mother of martyred soldier Pradeep Kumar. "We are not satisfied. So many sons died. We saw no one dead. There are no dead bodies on the other side. In fact, there was no confirmed news. We need to see this on TV. And we need to be told at our homes. We need to see the dead bodies of the terrorists," the octogenarian was quoted by the media.
The government in spite of criticism from opposition has refused to give details on the attack. Meanwhile, Indian Air Force (IAF) officials when questioned said its job is not to count bodies but to hit targets.
