Election officials raid Jayalaxmi Silks for selling 'Modi saris' at Udyavar

Daijiworld Media Network - Kaup (UM)

Kaup, Apr 2: Election officials on Tuesday April 2 raided a garment store at Udyavar here on suspicions that the store was selling saris carrying images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The election flying squad raided Jayalaxmi Silks after a bill showing 'Modi sari' was reportedly found issued by the store.

Sources said that when the election squad raided the store, the owner refused to cooperate, after which the police were called in and the raid resumed in their presence.

It is learnt that the officers seized two 'Modi saris' as well as saris with images of recent surgical strike on Balakot from the store.

Sources said that the election officials and police came in three vehicles and the raid lasted from 5 pm to around 9.30 pm.

The store had reportedly been selling the Modi and Balakot saris for the past one month, and had been previously warned against doing so. The store however continued to sell them. A complaint was then filed, based on which the election officials raided on Tuesday.

A case has been registered in Kaup police station against store owner Virendra, who is said to have fled.

With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, election officials are keeping a strict watch on everything from shops to Yakshagana performances. The seven phase elections will begin from April 11 and in Karnataka polling will be held on April 18 and 23. The votes will be counted on May 23.

Remember the Pathankot attack? Yes, the same one where the Modi government invited ISI to “investigate” the army base. The six terrorists who attacked Pathankot Indian Air Force base wore army fatigues. The terrorists who attacked a police station in Gurdaspur on July 27, 2015, also wore army uniforms. Following this attack wearing combat dress was made illegal by the army. Indian Army Has Made It Illegal For Civilians To Wear Army-Style Dress

Clearly election agenda of party and personal commitments override duty of showing solidarity with tragedy struck nation and families of grief stricken CRPF soldiers. Party first after all !

Such naked two-facedness… err honesty has been a trend in BJP throughout Modi’s term since 2014. And during elections it becomes more prominent. Clearly not even tragedies like Pulwama can make them act sincerely and sensitively some haters would say.

Don’t politicize the situation all the BJP leaders including PM sermonized. Almost all the political parties dutifully cancelled their election campaigning events and stood united with the center and urged PM Modi to take appropriate action against the terrorist attack.

And then watched Mr. Modi himself and his ministers , party president hopping from one party event to another. Prachar Mantri (Propaganda Minister) schedule was too busy to allot time to Prime Minister. Political agenda took a higher priority than national agenda even in this time of crisis. Thus, lamented those anti nationals, Pak supporting commie/urban naxals/libertards or whatever.

And if there is any fault in this behavior, blame it on Nehru you anti nationals !

    Jai Hind! (Salute India)

    God Save Democracy !

Even if they are, who wants them ? No lady will drape it around her.

Men may have to just accept them for the sake of Modi-love or for self prestige. I'm sure their women will not wish to wear them. To keep as a heirloom ? What difference it makes by having it or not ?

    Richard,

First, Modi modified 'Nehru Jacket' and made it his own brand, 'Modi Jacket'. today, every BJP supporter takes pride in owning/wearing one. It wasn't like that when it was 'Nehru Jacket'. It made no difference to the one wore it then. Next, Modi brings out Saris with his own picture on it. Again making his brand. Why ? Isn't he happy with the publicity/popularity he has as the PM of the nation ? Has MMS, Rajiv, Indira or any other PMs served in India were ever tried so much for publicity or were as hungry for publicity as Modi is ? His hunger is so much, that he even asked those present, to move away from the front when he touched his mother's feet so that it could be photographed.

That's not all, Modi ordered his jackets in dozens, in different colours, and parceled them as Gift to dignitaries who commented on them. At whose cost ? His personal ? Obviously not. We Indians (of-course non-BJPeans) are fools. We don't know how our money is being floundered.

Is there any Govt order?, if so under which rule it is banned. If you distribute free during election time it is against code of conduct. But here it is pure business of the trader. This is called intollerence and curbing freedom of trade
Where r those stood for freedom of express or freedom of wearing /eating?

So, Election officials can not stop these nor they can stop people's aggressiveness on making Modi PM once again. Mei Bhi Chowkidaar also... Modi just called for and whole nation joining him.. .that shows the support. ED or RTO or EC stopping people from all these will not stop them supporting Modi... any ways... What is a sari used for ? Wearing - right ? Who will wear a Saree ? You ? No, a woman has to wear it. Which woman will like mimicking the dead soldiers ? Which woman likes a man like Modi draped around her body ?

Have some commonsense when you say "Patriotism shows even one's work - What's so wrong. Why you become so much upset."

Instead, you make shawls and hang them across your shoulder. Fitting for you men to display your arrogant hero on your body. Wear the soldiers too and make fun of their old parents, widows and orphaned children.
