Mangalore: DSS Protests Against Kermal Panchayat

The Dalit Sangarsha Samiti (Ambedkarite) (DSS) staged a protest putting forth various demands before the Kermal gram panchayat near Haleyangady on Saturday March 8.
 
About 40 families belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes residing on government land in Mullottu under the gram panchayat limitd since the past 15 years have been submitting memorandums to the panchayat to provide them property title deed and drinking water facility. According to the demonstrators, the panchayat has been lukewarm to their woes.
 
Meanwhile, Mangalore assistant commissioner Krishna Murthi ordered the village accountant to list the names of dwellers through the gram panchayat after surveying the area. The protesters also urged for reconnection of the water pipe to the area which was disconnected by the former president.
 
DSS leaders S P Anand, Ramesh Kotian, Sudhakar, Sadashiva, Ganesh, Varun, Dayanand, Sulochani, Sesappa, and Vasantha were present.
