Mangalore, Mar 30: Noted Bollywood music director Ismail Darbar announced the launch of an academy of dance and music in association with the Western Institute of Technology here at The Gateway Hotel on Monday March 30.
Lal Goel, in-charge of the academy, said that well-known Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan and Ismail Darbar will train the students personally. He added that free training would also be provided to four talented students (two in dancing and two in singing).
“After the completion of one batch of three months and six months duration, an event will be organized in which celebrities from Mumbai will adjudge those students and review their performances. Those who are found to be the best will be given a chance to perform in reality shows”, said Goel.
“We are proud to be starting an academy in association with the Western Institute of Technology in a city like Mangalore”, he said.
“The purpose of starting this academy is to train students at their own place and under the guidance of their parents. When they are ready, they will be introduced to Bollywood”, said Goel adding that the academy will open in mid-April at Kankanady.
He added that there is no caste, creed, religion, or language for talent, he said.
Goel expressed his gratitude to Walter Stephen Mendes, managing director, Western Institute of Technology, for joining hands with them.
The intake of students for dance and singing will be 50 and 25, respectively. The duration of the training for the dance course will be three months while for singing it will be six months to a year.
Darbar said, “I have great pleasure in training young people because I feel a sense of joy in teaching them.” He also sang a few lines from his famous number ‘tadap tadap ke’, saying, “Composing and singing are different. Singing requires a good voice”.
They also announced that they will start branches of their academy in Udupi and other parts of the state in association with Western Institute of Technology.
