Mangalore, Apr 18: “The freedom we got in 1947 through a long fight has been lost because of the fascists and rulers in the state as proved by the murder of murder of advocate Naushad”,  said K L Ashok, general secretary, Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike, in a programme organized to pay homage to murdered human rights advocate Naushad Kashimji, in front of deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on Friday April 17.

The programme was organized by Dakshina Kannada Muslim Organizations Federation to condole the death of advocate Naushad and condemn his murder with a five-point resolution. The resolution includes handing over of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the event of police failing to nab the culprits by Thursday April 30.

Ashok added that the police also treat the minorities in a fascist manner under directions from the government and hence, have a major part in victimizing the minorities.

“Naushad, being a lawyer with knowledge of the facts about such atrocities, fought against the police and became a martyr due to his being brave. He got a death similar to that of Bhagat Singh who fought against the British rulers in India”, said Ashok adding that all human rights activists are in danger.

Ashok also challenged the underworld to come out on the streets in the open and said that making threatening calls and killing in secret and then hiding was a cowardly act.

Umar U H, joint convener of the federation, said, “The days ahead will be full of feelings of betrayal and a great sense of loss. The death of Naushad has caused fear and anger”.

The district president of the Popular Front of India, Anwar Saddat, alleged that some sections of the media as well as the police force were involved in a criminal conspiracy to tarnish the image of Naushad and justify his killing.

Recalling a string of police encounters in the recent past, Saddat said that people are losing faith in the police.

K M Sharif, national secretary, Popular Front of India, Mohammad Kunhi from ‘Shanthi Prakashana’,  Prof Umeshchandra, lecturer, Mangalore University,  Mohammad Darimi, president, Darimi’s Association, also  spoke.

The progaramme was arranged in association with more than ten organizations including Popular Front of India, New Age India Forum,  Jamath-e-Islami Hind,  Seerath Committee, Darimi Association, and other human rights organizations. More than 8,000 people attended  the programme.

Organisers were planned to  take  a rally  from Ambedkar circle to DC office  on the same  issue but the denial of   permission  from  police department, it was cancelled.

Mr.Rajendra Udupi, I agree with you...this is what called"unfortunate" whenever there is injustice everyone should protest it irrespective of cast and creed...but here what happens is only a particular community protests which the victim is belonged to...it applies to all religions.... if once it changed completely then there will be justice. fight against evils not religion.

To protest against such atrocities and brutalities, even christian and like minded hindu brothers and sisters too should have been mobilised. It is not the case of Muslims alone. We all should together join hands on such issues and fight collectively supporting each other.

A very dignified way of protest . Attacking innocent general public and their properties are the ways of hooligans. God Bless you brothern for your unique cause. Surely God the Merciful Almighty will bring justice to the murdered brother. A request that all communities join hands for this cause, today it is the murder of Advocate Naushad tomorrow it will some one else. If not voiced the list can go on. Let the authorities know that there is Unity & Humanity still strong in the hearts of every individual irrespective of any religion cast or creed...

It is a positive development on the part of D.K. Muslims. At last you have realised that When heads are rolling it is foolish to quarrel on silly things like wearing head cap is right or wrong. If you are united no one dares to touch your shadow. Organizers hats off. Bring all association under one umbrella, which will not only make the fascist elements  bent on tarnishing the image of Islam and harm the Muslims and their property  to tremble  but also foil all their crooked plans.

Thanks to daiji world for covering this programme, so that sitting in Dubai you provide us the facility to watch the programme. It is a happy incident for all of us to see the different Muslim Organization came under a single platform for a common cause. At lease the government and the Police force to realise the importance of this case, and without any hesitation to handover the case to CBI so that Mr. Noushad 's family and friends and wellwishers should get the justice.

I hope the authorities will heed to the demand to invite CBI to investigate this case. Lets hope the police are not the guilty party here,as it will only make things worse. However if there is some police involved then an example has to be made of these irresponsible officers.

If political bosses have played a role that too should be exposed by the law enforcers. Then only will people have faith and be willing to back truthful officers.

This unity of public/crowd makes to bring justice for Naushad very soon but I hope police will fix innocents guys and prove they have done their job as per the commitment. Make sure the true culprit is found and hanged immediately. I think only CBI can prove not Karnataka police dept. Hand over the case to CBI and hang the police offices one who are on hit list as per pursotham poojary. VS Achary home minister resign immediately you are not fit for the position.

Its blot on the society that Naushad has to get killed. It needs to be investigated. And, I fully appreciate this meeting. However, I was amused to see some of the banners comparing him with Karkare, and statements comparing him with Bhagath singh. I was particularly aghast to see Ashok utilizing this opportunity to score some browny points, he is the same guy who openly supports naxalism. Humarn rights organizations are always at the wrong side of the story and looks for cheap publicity.

I request all secular minded brothers and sisters to become united under one political platform and to utilise all our nations wealth, resource with justice. Killing one person cannot suppress the voice of thousands who stand for justice. When there is no justice there will be chaos and more lawlessness.Killing one innocent person is as bad as killing the entire humanity. Catching the murderers or conspirators should be done soonest so that the entire Police Department of Karnataka will have a sigh of relief. The SP should prove his sincerity by solving the case as he has promised. In my opinion only a CBI inquiry could bring justice to this case but giving time for our district police is also a reasonable option. Thanks Daiji for a good coverage of the event.

Will this mass protest attended by thousands of agitated mourners of Shaheed Naushad be eye opener for those from public and a section of the Media who are bent upon tarnishing the image of Naushad? Will they shut their mouth atleast if they don't have the courage to praise the departed soul?! Those who call Advocate Naushad as the suporter of Criminals and justify the elimination of such persons, will tell me whats to be done with the Supremos of Hindu outfits who are till today supporting NathuRam Ghodse and continuing with his legacy?
