Prof P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya takes over as new VC of Mangalore University

Mangaluru, Jun 4: Prof P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya from the department of commerce of the university took over as the ninth vice chancellor (VC) of Mangalore University on Monday June 3.

Prof Yadapadithaya, a past student of this university, had joined the university long back after which he discharged duty in different capacities before getting elevated to the position of the head of the university. He is from Kokkada in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. In the history of this university, he gets the distinction for being the first DK origin VC of Mangalore University.

Under this university, Dr Yadapadithaya had pursued M Com and doctorate degrees. He later rose up the ladder in the department of post graduation in commerce before serving as finance officer and registrar of examinations.

Prof Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya happens to be the son of Narayana Yadapadthaya, who functioned as priest, and Bhavani from Palare in Kokkada, Puttur taluk. He completed primary education in the government higher primary school Kokkada and high school through Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara high school. He completed B Com degree course through SDM Ujire and came out with flying colours by being the first rank holder in the first batch of postgraduate commerce division of the university.

On a temporary basis, he initially worked as lecturer at Poornaprajna college Udupi after which he served the university for 36 years. He got his doctorate in 1992. For a year, he served as assistant professor in human resource management science at NITIE Mumbai. He also served as trainer and expert in business administration, and guided 22 research scholars. He got lot of appreciation for the way he handled the post of the registrar. He has been honoured and awarded by various organizations in recognition of his educational and administrative services.

Prof A M Khan, registrar of examinations, Prof Raveendrachar, finance officer, Dr Dayanand Nayak, special officer in the office of the registrar, Prof Nagappa Gowda, professors from various departments, non-teaching staff and office bearers of Old Students Association extended best wishes to Prof Yadapadithaya on this occasion.
