New Delhi, Jun 15: In the wake of the 'free metro rides for women' becoming almost a reality, E Sreedharan has shown disapproval toward the decision. Sreedharan, has been credited with changing the face of the transport services in Delhi. He has now come forward and requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to not approve this proposal by the chief minister of Delhi, Kejriwal.

Earlier, in a letter to the Prime Minister, Sreedharan, stated that this action would prove to be rather fatal than beneficial. He further suggested that if the Kejriwal and AAP government are keen on helping women in their travel, they should directly provide for their travel expenditure.

Sreedharan stressed that the Prime Minister should very well consider an involvement in this matter. Besides, he stated that this move of the AAP government will affect the other metro specific cities. He further projected the revenue drop to be devastating and the argument of the Delhi government to reimburse the amount, a mere weak proposition.

The former managing director of DMRC then went back in time to the year 2002, when every individual was liable to pay for the ticket. This decision was even acceptable by the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who had even purchased a ticket for his ride from Shahdara to Kashmere Gate.

Regardless of the objections, Kejriwal, in a press conference announced that the scheme would cost Rs 1,567 crore and will be rolled out in eight months.
