Mangalore, May 24: Eleven people including two women were hospitalized after consuming ice cream form a vendor in Bunder area on Saturday May 23.

They are all under treatment for food poisoning. The two women Parveen (25) and Shakeera (24), who are pregnant, fell seriously ill after consuming the ice cream.

The children Ayesha, Aneena, and Shagufa who are all around 10 years of age, started vomiting after they consumed the ice cream and fell down after half an hour. Following this, they were hospitalized and have now recovered.

Sixteen-year-old Shamrath, however, is still in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Shafa (15), Almas (15), Shanu (18) Salman (14), and Mohammad Zameez (23), also displayed similar symptoms about one and a half hours after consuming the ice cream. They are under treatment.

Shanu said, “We often purchase ice cream from the same person but it is for the first time that this has happened. The doctor has said that such food poisoning may also cause kidney problems”.

“This particular brand of ice cream was sold by a person on a three-wheeled cycle. The ice cream has been sent for testing as per the doctor’s advise”, said Salman.

The doctor on duty in the hospital said that the reason for food poisoning will be known only after the report on the ice cream is obtained.

Those affected are all relatives who live in Ansari road in Bunder area.

Please dont eat any food items from vendors. The hand of the vendor may have filth at his finger tips.,of his various body organs. It may not harm you every time but sometime it may harm you and if you dont get treatment it may kill you.

Mr. Ravi, What a kiddish comment you have made. I don''t think all readers of this column are fools to comment and criticize the government without a proper reason or justification. If you are so much in love of BJP government,be active and advice the government to have an active Food Inspection Authority in Mangalore, so that such incidents could be avoided.
