Bengaluru, Jul 5 (IANS): As the status of education is an indicator of the country's overall development and well-being, the various measures proposed in the Union Budget for fiscal 2019-20 in boosting its sector were encouraging, said an executive of a leading school here on Friday.
"Union Finance Nirmala Sitharaman's proposal to set up of the National Research Foundation will be a game-changer as research is sacrosanct," said Seth M.R. Jaipuria Schools Director Kanak Gupta in a statement.
Study in India and stock exchange for social enterprises will give a fillip to the educational institutes in tier-2 and tier-3.
"A dedicated television channel to start-ups will be a win-win for institutes and students," said Gupta.
Noting that the proposed new National Education Policy would focus on upskilling teachers and learners to meet global levels, Gupta said the skill upgrade initiative would minimise brain drain and save money paid on tuition and living cost overseas.
"As the country marches towards being a $3-trillion economy, it is imperative to bring the education ecosystem to global level," said Gupta.
"Focus on improving education with the target towards the future, sustainable growth in the vital sector is also commendable," he added.
