Gadag: Police lathi-charge villagers who came to meet CM BSY

Daijiworld News Network - Gadag

Gadag, Aug 9: Flood-affected people who protested against Karnataka chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, during his visit to Konnur taluk in Gadag district were driven away by the police personnel with lathi-charge on Friday.

A video which is currently going viral shows a large number of villagers surrounding the CM’s car with an intention to tell their grievances. The police, who fail to control the crowd, chased them away after lathi-charging them.

The CM is currently being criticized for continuing to sit inside the car and making no efforts to stop the police.

The CM had visited Belagavi on Friday morning to review the flood situation and he later visited Gadag for review. The people, who had come to meet the CM, have lost their houses and fields due to floods and were hoping for relief funds.

Later Yediyurappa said in a  statement that action will be taken against police officials who lathi-charged people in rain affected areas of Gadag.

Alexander Bangalore/USA,Understand? what should one floodaffected people understand?Instead he should understand people. He is sitting queitly and people have lost their homes property and want to ask help.He should have sentaway Police or asked them to stop their action beating them. They are not animals.Even cows are not beaten now in India.People are good only for beating with their sticks. One should have made arrangements to come without any mob.why should beat innocent ones. Now talking of to take action on police.Nothing will happen. They will do as before.Only people are later taken to task.Did he give any help to them or only sent back with some promise?or some lathi charge.?
