BHEL Sends Super-critical Boiler Columns for NTPC Project


Chennai, July 18 (IANS): Power plant equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Saturday dispatched super-critical boiler columns, weighing a total of 100 tonnes, from its boiler plant in Tiruchirappalli to the NTPC-promoted Barh Thermal Project in Bihar.

K. Ravikumar and R.S.Sharma, the CMDs of BHEL and NTPC respectively, flagged off the consignment at Tiruchirappalli, 300 km from here.

BHEL has bagged the contract for 2x660 MW super-critical boilers from NTPC and is manufacturing them for the first time in the country.

According to a BHEL statement, the company can manufacture thermal sets up to 600 MW in the sub-critical range and up to 1,000 MW in the super-critical range.

The company has now introduced 660 MW and 800 MW thermal sets with super-critical parameters.
