Mangalore, Jul 21: Senior advocate Purushottam Poojary, whose close associate and advocate Naushad Kashimji was murdered in the city on April 9 this year, reiterated his earlier charge that the policemen had killed Naushad. "Not even in the case of the assassinations of Father of Nation Gandhiji and former USA president John F Kennedy, had there been an attempt to eliminate the defending lawyers. My junior lawyer Naushad was killed mercilessly by the policemen," he said in front of the media persons, when he had come to SDM Law College on Friday July 20, to take part in a press conference.
Poojary spelt out his resolve to continue his fight against this injustice, even after the High Court held his allegations against the protectors of law to be baseless. "I will directly charge in my next complaint that the policemen had committed this murder. I will seek interrogation of four policemen including a district bureau of criminal intelligence inspector," he added.
"The policemen knew the telephone number of Naushad. They also were aware that the family of Naushad was away in Bhatkal to attend a marriage and Kashimji was alone at home. There is no doubt that the policemen killed him," he stressed.
Fake Encounter:
Relating to the murder of Sukhanand Shetty, the policemen killed Mulky Rafiq, Atiq and David in fake encounters, Puruhottam Poojary alleged and stressed that the policemen were nurturing a grouse against Naushad for repeatedly proving that the policemen were involved with acts amounting to violation of human rights.
"Naushad Kashimji had studied in SDM Law College. He learnt the tricks of the profession fast and climbed up the ladder quickly. Even I often sought information from him about the human rights in the eyes of law. Several students got assistance from him to continue their studies," he added.
