Mangalore: Police Arrest Accused Behind July 8 Mobile Shop Theft Case

Mangalore, Jul 21: City north (Bunder) police arrested a person on the theft case and seized Rs 4.70 lac worth loot from him on Tuesday, July 21. The seized items include 72 mobile phone sets, 21 watches, a motor bike and some tools including screw drivers used to break open the lock.
The arrested has been identified as Mahantesh (28), resident of Talakkal village in Yalaburgi taluk in Koppala district. He was arrested by the police in City Building near Central Market in the heart of the city while trying to sell the stolen items.
Mangalore north police inspector Vinay A Gaonkar said that the accused has confessed to have stolen these items by entering the shop, Swiss Collection on Maidan First Croas Road near Central Market by breaking open the shutter locks in the City. It can be recalled here that the theft was held on July 8. Police added that the accused was also involved in a theft incident that occurred in Kollapur Station limits of Maharashtra.
The team headed by inspector Vinay A Gaonkar, sub-inspector K R Manjunath, Probationary PSI Ishwari P N, assistant sub-inspector Shashikanth, constables Ishwara Swami, K V Mohan, Damodar K, Rajaram K, Praveen, M Jayanth, Balakrishna, Rukmayya, Manikanta and Rithesh Kottary was in the arrest operation under the direction of superintendent of police A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao.
