Mangalore: Town Hall Extravaganza Marks Junior Rajkumar’s 40th Anniversary as Singer

Mangalore, Jul 28: ‘Simhavalokana-Part 2’, a programme organized by ‘Madhura Taranga’ to mark the 40th anniversary of Jagdish Shivapura’s entry into the field of singing was held at the Town Hall on Tuesday July 28.
The singer is better known as ‘Junior Rajkumar’
The event was inaugurated by Ramanatha Hegde, trustee, Mangaladevi Temple. B C Rao, Shivapura, talked about the journey that has brought Jagadish Shivpura the success he enjoys today.
Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swami, speaking on the occasion said, “Singing means worship of God where the singer or artist becomes the son of God. The art attracts everyone but it embraces only a few”.
Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief daijiworld.com, Harikrishna Punaroor, former chairman, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Dr Hani Kabral, director, Kalasangama Studios, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, S V Acharya, president, Vishwakarma Okkuta, Vasantha Kadri, music director and All India Radio artist, and M J Hegde, editor, ‘Sumasaurabha’ weekly, were the chief guests.
Guests felicitated D V S Moorthy, former president, Gurgaon Kannada Sangha, Dinesh Shetty Kaup, A S Acharya, Silvara Kannada Sangh, G T Acharya, former president, Vishwakarma Brahmana Sangha, and Karnoor Mohan Rai, convener, ‘Cha Parka’ team, Mumbai.
Dramatist Devadas Kapikad and tabla player Nityananda Kamath were also felicitated.
Gulf Kannadigas Daya Kirodian, Dubai, Manohar Tonse, Abu Dhabi, Suresh Salian, Abu Dhabi, Rajkumar, Bahrain, and Girish Idya, Bahrain, were felicitated for their achievements and support to Kannada.
Jagadeesh Shivapura’s father-in-law Koteswara Baburaya Acharya and mother-in-law Kalavathi Baburaya Acharya were also recognized for their unstinting support.
Advocate Anitha Shenoy was the honourary president while entrepreneur Manjunatha Revankar presided over the function.
A music programme, ‘Nagunagutha Nali’, dedicated to the memory of Kannada cinema artist Dr Rajkumar, was also conducted by Jagadish Shivapura.
