Dubai, Jul 29:
Stany D'Souza, currently residing in Dubai, is well known in Konkani music industry. The man of music, who is in the field of Konkani music since the last 30 years, had been a part of Wilfy Rebimbus troupe for over 50 nites in India and abroad. Apart from being a talented singer, he is a gifted composer. He is also part of the troupe that will perform on Aug 2, 2009 at the Sentimental Nite.
In the recent years, Konkani music has seen many up-and-coming talents, specially the young generation. This has been good omen for Konkani music industry.
Every person who loves music, is sure to aspire either to sing or play an instrument. And every such aspirant nurses a dream to bring out his/her own music album. Stany is no exception to this phenomenon.
It was Stany's dream, to produce his own album, but not for commercial purpose. Instead, he wants to do so for preserving his lyrics and tunes for long, in the form of his album.
"I always had desired to bring out my own album, but due to my professional commitments, it could not happen. But, the time is ripe now, because many of my songs have been picked by the budding singers for singing competitions, and people have appreciated my songs. So, I thought I should put them all in one place and dedicate them to the lovers of Konkani music," says Stany, who works for aNestle Middle East in Dubai and holds a responsible post.
Stany's family is a complete musical family. While Stany composes, plays instruments and sings, his wife Lynette, daughter Rovina and son Kevin join him and lend their voices. Both Rovina and Kevin have won several prizes in singing competitions in Dubai.
His maiden album, which was released recently without fanfare, has already hit the CD stands. All the 17 songs - all penned by Stany – have been sung by only his family members. Music for the album was directed by well-known musician and 'Wilfy Nite' fame Pappan - Joswin duo.
"The songs are on varied subjects and also in different formats such as solos, duets, and group. The specialty of the CD is that all the songs are sung by the family members. The apt name, ‘Eka Pakya Pondli Gayanam’ was suggested by Wilfy Rebimbus and I am grateful to him for that," says Stany.
"The songs could be useful for future singing competitions, especially for the children, because the CD contains many songs on the subjects connected with them," opines Lynette, Stany's wife, who has lent her voice for four songs in this album. Lynette has been a source of inspiration and encouragement for Stany's success in the field of music.
"I just love music, I want to be in music forever,” says a humble Stany, who manages time to devote a part of it to Konkani music, despite having been burdened with other professional commitments.
There are very few in the field of Konkani music, who involve their entire families in their music. Legendary Wilfy Rebimbus and his family has been a role model for such musical families.
