Mangalore: Musical Evening Pays Tribute to Singing Legend Mohammad Rafi

Mangalore, Jul 31: ‘Ishal Sandhya’ and ‘Qawwali ki Shaam’, a musical programme in remembrance of legendary singer Mohammad Rafi on his 29th death anniversary, was held at the Town Hall on Friday July 31.
The programme, organized by Capman Media Makers, was inaugurated by Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation.
The guests on the occasion were Prof P C M Kunhi, director of academics and administration, Yenepoya University, M B Abdul Rahiman, chairman, Beary Sahitya Academy, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld.com and Haider Parthipady.
Dr Alva said that the songs of Mohammad Rafi were memorable and the programme was a great tribute to the singer.
Senior artiste B Mohammed Jokatte, Beary lyricist Samshuddin Madikeri, and musician Sathish Surathkal, were felicitated with mementos by Capman for their contribution to the field of Beary music.
Khalid’s singing which was similar to Rafi’s was greatly appreciated by the audience. Zeenath Kannur, Aziz Tayneli, and Ismail Challangere presented ‘Mapilla Patt’, while Hussain Katipalla and Rahim B C Road rendered Beary songs.
Azeez Baikampady compered the programme. M G Rahim, chief of the organizing committee, was also present.
