Bengaluru: Government introduces variety in midday meal for students

Bengaluru, Oct 28: The government has issued instructions, making changes in the menu of midday meal being supplied to school children. The new menu would be affective from November 1.

On Monday, rice, greens, and vegetable sambar have to be provided. On Tuesday, vegetable pulao and Dal Tove or tomato Bhath with vegetable curry would be the menu. On Wednesday, rice, dal Rasam and curry of pulses should be provided.

On Thursday, rice, mixed vegetables, and sambar should be provided. Bisebele Bhath along with Khara Boondi to be provided on Friday. On Saturday, vegetable Uppittu, wheat Vangi Bhaath/wheat Pongal/ Chapathi Sagu should be provided to the children, the order has stated.

The above list has been provided to all schools and voluntary organizations engaged in providing midday meal to the children. It is compulsory to follow this menu, duly maintaining quality.

The instructions have also mentioned that good quality pulses and dal should be used for midday meal, and spices and other items also should be of good quality. Vegetables, green vegetables etc that are locally available can be used, the government said.

The government has issued this order, in tune with a proposal mooted by the government to modify the midday menu. It has also provided a list of what kind of 'Saaru' and sambar to be prepared and list of items to be used have also been provided.

    Please keep out politics out of this. Let all children get good food. If anyone missusing this for the sake of popularity or vote bank politics should be severely punished.

    Good to hear this .let us see how far it is successful.Important is dont give rest from previous day mixed next day.Children are our future.for example rice.
