Kannada Sangha, Bahrain Celebrates Folk Festival 2009

Bahrain, Aug 30: Kannada Sangha, Bahrain (KSB) celebrated Folk Festival 2009 here, recently.
The festival was inaugurated by Doomanna Rai, entertainment secretary of KSB followed by prayer song by Thakshak Pais.
H K Pai, Sunanda, Sutakar Koppad, Shuawanda Patric, Shripati Acharya Ganesh Pai, Thakshak Pai and Parushuram brought life to the folk songs and music of Karnataka. Some of the songs from North Karnataka, Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwad and Shimoga were so interesting that though audiences heard it for the first time they all lapped it up with enthusiasm.
Special attraction of the event was “Kola” by Varun Hegde, Ashok Suvarna and group. Audiences appreciated the village folk culture brought over to them by the group. Dombarata, Huli Kunitha comedy skit and Aati Kalenja, reminded the audience of the typical folk richness of our state.
Folk festival’s main attraction was “Dharani Mandala Mahdya Dolage” a group play staged by the members’ children. The audience were touched by the play as it reminded them of their younger days.
Rajasthani dance by Shruthi Hegde and dance duet by Shruthi Raghupathi and Sharada Raghupathi’s “Radha Kaise Na Jale” entertained all.
The programmee concluded wwith Samarasya song by Doomanna Rai. Chethan Hegde, leader of “Kaveri” team thanked all who have helped her in organizing the event specially Karunakar Padmashali Committee members and Daijiworld for their continuous support.
