Kalaburagi: Lifeless body of 8-year-old recovered, rape suspected

Daijiworld Media Network: Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi, Dec 3: In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then murdered by a 35-year-old man in Kalaburagi village on Monday.

The girl studying in second standard was a resident of Yakapur village in Chincholi taluk. On Monday, the girl left for school but did not attend the same. When she did not return as normal at the school leaving time, the worried parents started searching for the girl.

Some of the villagers told the parents that they had spotted the girl wandering with a person named Yallappa, a resident of the same village.

However, when Yallappa was questioned, he was evasive and claimed to not know anything about the girl’s whereabouts.

The parents complained to the Sulepet police and the villagers handed over Yallappa to the police.

A search was launched by the villagers and to everyone’s shock the lifeless body of the girl was found in the canal of Mullamari irrigation project, located behind the Anganwadi centre of the village.

The police suspect rape as Yallappa's inner wear with blood stains was recovered near the canal.

Superintendent of Kalaburagi police, Lada Martin Marbaniang told media that the police have registered a case and investigation is underway.

Rape in India has become as common as any other petty crime and this will continue as long as the system supports it and as long as there is no appropriate punishment. The police for example of Dr. Veena Reddys case were asking the family to stop worrying since she might have eloped. The police had a primary role that is to start searching and not judging. And we are a country who will remember one rape only until another one is done. Our politicians are anyway useless, if one is to judge them on the basis of Nirbhaya. Nothing till now has been done. Unfortunate..

Anybody there to define the meaining of Development? I don't need any development as long as an innocent small baby is considered merely as an object to fulfill the lust of a cruel Animal; and we are running behind the word called development.

What is the sin of that innocent life? Where are we heading to ? Who will take responsibility of our children's safety?
