Pant flayed by many Twitterati, fans support him

Cuttack, Dec 22 (IANS): As India players Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant dropped catches against West Indies batsmen in the third and final ODI here on Sunday, cricket fans on Twitter erupted in anger.

Rishab Pant trended on Twitter as his fans supported him while others questioned the wicketkeeper's inclusion in the team.

Reacting to a dropped catch of Shimron Hetmyer behind the stumps by Pant, one cricket fan wrote: "Are we still planning to retain Pant? How many times will we see the same picture of catch dropped behind the wickets? So many talented wicketkeeper are in the list, but Pant?"

One user wrote: "Bring Dhoni... Go away Pant."

One fan however came in support of the wicketkeeper: "Stupid fans again targeted Pant for dropped catch behind the stumps but they are not gonna talk about Jadeja who also dropped a catch. Not gonna talk about the fans who are chanting Dhoni Dhoni. The point is criticise every player who drops a catch but don't go after only one player."

In reply, one user commented: "One blunder is acceptable but 3-4 blunders and that too of a destructive batsman."

Another said: "Three catches dropped in a single innings and his fans still go gaga over him. Don't we have any other keeper in our country?"
