Sullia, Sep 16: The four persons, who were accused of attempting robbery at the Sullia court premises about nine months ago, were sentenced by the Puttur fast track court to seven years of rigorous imprisonment on Monday September 14.

It may be recalled that a gang of robbers had entered the premises of Sullia junior division civil and first class magistrate court at about 3.30 am on December 12 last, and had tied up the watchman K P Mahesh. After gagging up the watchman with a plaster and whisking him for valuable possessions, they had opened the locks of seven rooms of the court, where things seized by the court are kept, presumable to search for sandalwood pieces seized in a case earlier and deposited in the court. They had then gone back empty-handed.

Ashraf K A, a resident of Hosadurg Payyannur, Kasargod district, Abuabakker of Kanattur Periyar, Babu from Panattadi and Manu from Panattur Ranipuram were sentenced in the case.
