Bengaluru: High court bans display of name boards in private vehicles of people’s representatives

Bengaluru, Jan 4: In a landmark judgement, the high court of the state has issued an order in which it has termed unlawful of people representatives displaying name boards showing their name, position,
government logo, sign etc on their personal vehicles.

The high court has directed the advocate general to take action to remove such boards within January 22 and submit a report in this regard to the court.

The one member bench of high court of Justice R Devadas has issued this order during the inquriy of a certain case that was brought before it. The order says that people representatives’ right from gram panchayat members to member of parliament should not display any kind of name plate in their private vehicles. The order also stated that it is applicable to both present and former people representatives.

The high court has ordered strict action against the offenders, who display the name plates that resemble the boards that of state and central organizations, semi-judicial organizations and other emblem representing government departments.
