Mangalore: 'Deepavali, a Festival Aimed at Strengthening Human Values' - Odiyoor Swamiji

Mangalore, Oct 19:"Deepavali spreads the message of strengthening the bond of human relationship and humanitarian values," said spiritual head of Odiyoor Temple, Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji.  He was delivering the Deepavali message on the occasion of 'Tulunada Tudar Parba' organized at Town Hall on Sunday October 18, under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya parishat, Kannada and culture department and Kakura Foundation.

The programme was inaugurated in the morning, by minister Krishna J Palemar, at a ceremony in which MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs N Yogish Bhat and U T Khader, mayor M Shankar Bhat, Prof M B Puranik and lawyer Ivan D'Souza participated as chief guests.


Director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement committee, Fr Anil D'Souza, said that the uniqueness of Deepavali lies in the message of harmony it has been spreading. He wished that this harmony will last for ever.

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president M B Abdul Rehman wished that Deepavali will fusion the minds and be a leading light for inspiring the people to uphold the religion of humanity in their lives.

Western range inspector general of police, Gopal Hosur, said that all the festivals this year in the district, have been held in an environment of peace and harmonious coexistence. Karnataka Bank managing director P Jayaram Bhat hoped that this Deepavali will lead people from darkness of ignorance towards the light of knowledge. Veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, former Karnataka Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor and veteran Yakshagana artiste and organizer, Sridhar Hande, participated as chief guests.

District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura explained the aims of the programme.
