Kundapur: Tile Workers Called on to Join Food Security Movement

Kundapur, Nov 5: The ninth general body meeting of the Tile Factory Worker’s Union, Udupi unit was recently held under the presidentship of V Narasimha.

Speaking on the occasion, A S Acharya, vice-president of the union said that the workers should continue their struggle till their basic demands are met. Besides they should help their comrades working in other trade unions. He exhorted the tile workers to join hands with farmers and agricultural labourers in the latter’s struggle, especially in food security movement.



Dasa Bhandary, Subrahmanya Acharya, Venkatesh Koni also spoke on the occasion. Several resolutions especially on food price control, road repairs, improvement of ESI system, opening of dispensary at Kandloor were passed for immediate implementation.

Nine new office-bearers were selected for year 2010, besides some 34 representatives were nominated for the conference to be held on November 15 and 16.

Chief secretary K Shanker read out the annual report and treasurer H Narashimha presented the annual accounts for the approval. Kumbhashi Ganesh proposed the vote of thanks.
