Mangalore: Bank of Maharashtra New Branch at Adyar Inaugurated

Mangalore, Nov 21: Allen C A Pereira, chairman and managing director of Bank of Maharashtra inaugurated the new branch of the bank at Adyar, on Saturday November 21. The branch at Adyar is the 51st branch in the state and one amongst 1,437 branches spread over 22 states and 2 union territories.
Inaugurating the new branch, Pereira said that the new branch in the rural area is part of the bank’s endeavour to develop the area by providing special services and thus partner in the growth of rural area. The bank has plans to cover all states in India with three more branches coming up in the north east region before the end of the current financial year with an aim to cross 1500 branches in the country, he added.
At the new branch the account holders will enjoy the facility of ATM card service of accessing the other bank’s ATMs and also service tax levied by other banks will be given by the branch up to 10 transactions per month, he said adding that the new branch has no facility of ATM centre, so this facility will be given to the customers.
The bank has special plans for children and students who want to save money. They can deposit amounts in recurring deposit (RD) plan, wherein the account holders will get a benefit of Rs 50,000 worth life insurance policy and bank will pay the premium too, he added.
As the bank is celebrating its 75 years, it has decided to adopt 75 villages to develop them educationally, provide with facilities such as rain water harvesting, health and hygiene needs and other such needs, he said. Further, the bank has 15 ATM networks in Karnataka state and it has proposed to open few more branches and ATMs in state during this financial year. It has 345 ATMs with visa connectivity in India whereas 828 branches rolled out on CBS (core banking solution) and provides anywhere banking through these branches that are computerized, he explained.
Bank has planned to introduce automated cheque deposit system and mobile banking, online trading of shares, application supported by blocked amounts (ASBA) facilities he added.
B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, Eric Ozario, gurkar of Mandd Sobhaan were also present. K Vairamani, deputy general manger of Bangalore region welcomed all.
