Mangalore: Apolinaris' 'Jeevan Sangeeth' Audio Album Released in City

Mangalore, Nov 29: It was another big day for Konkani with the release of music album of veteran Konkani composer and singer, Apolinaris D'Souza in the city on Sunday November 29. The album, 'Jeevan Sangeeth' was released by Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com at Sandesha Cultural Foundation.
Walter Nandalike, releasing the album said that, it was an extreme honour for him to release the album of an artiste of such a great calibre. A quality artiste, he has pride of a place in the heart of every Konkani speaking member as his hymns are sung by everyone in the church. His voice and words will always live with Konkani people, he said.
Nandalike urged Konkani music lover to prevent piracy in the field of music and requested Eric Ozario and Mandd Sobhann team to come to the rescue of sincere Konkani artistes, who face a great loss due to audio piracy.
Ozario in his address recalled his association with Apolinaris, and said Apolinaris is truly a down to earth and humble personality, who has come up in life due to his own efforts and talent. Responding to the request made by Nandalike, Ozario said that in the recent days though his hopes were dwindling, yet he witnesses a silver lining whenever a new Konkani album takes shape and he makes efforts to take it to every Konkani home. Though it needs investments, he hoped that his dream would be fulfilled with the support of the people around. He assured that, he and his team will work seriously to take step towards taking Konkani articles to every home through a mobile van.
Apolinaris in his thanksgiving speech remembered everyone who contributed towards his success in the music field. He made a special mention about Fr Walter Albuquerque, who he always considered as his mentor. His wife Joyce's special care and love has made him big, he said humbly acknowledging the encouragement received from her.

Richie Lasrado, senior journalist and a family friend of Apolinaris for years made an introductory speech bringing out achievement of Apolinaris in Konkani music field. He narrated Apolinaris’ journey into the Konkani music field and his steady growth whereby he went on to win the hearts of Konkani music lovers worldwide despite living in Oman for last 35 years. “Apolinaris is the pride of entire Konkani community,” he said.
An artiste par excellence who gave unforgettable, evergreen Konkani hymns like 'Vandan Tuka Somia' 'Argam Tuka Somia', and 'Sasnacho Vishev' among others, which are still sung at almost every Konkani holy masses all over the world. Apolinaris’s contribution to Konkani music in general and devotional music in particular has been immense.
Former Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy president Eric Ozario was the chief guest. Sr Maria Goretti, who is on a visit to India was the guest of honour. Apolinaris, his wife Joyce, album sponsor Mascarenhas, and Albert D'Souza, brother of Apolinaris were present on the dais.
Apolinaris, Richie Lasrado and Eric Ozario presented beautiful song from the album to the audience. Stany Alvares beautifully compered the event.
Fr Valerian Mendonca, director, Sandesha, Fr Bonaventure, parish priest of Valencia, Louis Pinto of Mandd Sobhann, Mike Simon, Konkani musician and William D'Souza, entrepenuer from Globe Travels among others were present.
